Mint Julep
1 c. sugar
1 c. water
1 c. mint leaves
crushed ice
100 Proof Kentucky Bourbon
Mint sprigs
Combine sugar and water in a saucepan and bring mixture to a
boil. Cover and cook without stirring for 5 minutes. Remove from
heat and allow mixture to cool. Bruise the mint leaves with the
back of a wooden spoon. Place mint leaves in a jar and add the
sugar syrup. Cover and chill for 12 to 24 hours. Strain the
mixture and discard the mint when ready to use.
Fill mint julep cup with crushed ice. Add 1 Tablespoon of the
syrup and 1 ounce of Bourbon to each. Stir and garnish with mint
sprigs.
